Specialists David Youran, L.Ac. | Amy Balcerak, L.Ac. | Jen Jones, CMT
David began his career in his hometown of St. Louis after attending the University of Pennsylvania. Under the patient guidance and expert instruction of Dr. Thomas Duckworth, David completed a strict Japanese-style four year apprenticeship in acupuncture and Oriental medicine. David established his practice in St. Louis in 2004 and the following year he and his wife moved to Indianapolis. He became the first acupuncturist in Indiana to specialize solely in fertility and pregnancy wellness, and Indiana Reproductive Acupuncture remains the only such practice in the state. In 2008, in conjunction with Midwest Fertility Specialists, David co-authored a study on acupuncture and IVF, which was presented at the annual conference of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He is a member of ASRM, RESOLVE and the Indiana Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. David brings a deep personal interest to his practice. He was adopted from Bogota, Colombia, after his parents struggled with infertility. In 1984 his sister, Michelle, was the first baby conceived through IVF in Missouri. David lives in Zionsville with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.
Amy Balcerak attended Purdue University with a focus on life sciences, before starting her study of acupuncture at the New York College of Health Professions in Syosset, New York. Her education and clinical efforts provided her with a unique exposure to many different types of treatment techniques, including: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Japanese acupuncture, Five-Element acupuncture, and Korean massage. Upon receiving her master's degree in acupuncture, Amy moved back to Indiana where she started her private practice, Whole Body Health. While seeing family and friends struggle with infertility, Amy developed a great interest in helping people conceive and maintain healthy pregnancies. In April 2008, Amy joined Indiana Reproductive Acupuncture where she can focus on natural reproductive health care. She is excited to be assisting women on their journey towards reproductive wellness. Amy is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, RESOLVE, and the Indiana Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Amy and her husband Brad have two children.
Jen graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Human Development/Family Studies and a minor in Public Health Education and Sociology. She then received her medical massage therapy certification from MedTech College in Indianapolis, Indiana. She also received certification in pregnancy massage from the Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy in Chicago, Illinois. Jen is currently pursuing a degree in nursing. Jen's passion and dedication to relieving stress and tension through therapeutic touch earned her a coveted externship with Clarian Health. She provided stress management massage to patients, family members, and staff on Methodist Hospital's Labor and Delivery floor and the Ruth Lilly Hospice Unit. In 2007, Jen joined Indiana Reproductive Acupuncture where she specializes in treating women who are at various stages of their fertility journey. |
